Cognitive-developmental contemporary issue:
Whole-class teaching or group learning?
We focus a great deal on education, and there is much discussion about whether children learn better individually, in groups or as a whole class. Primary schools deliberately set out their classrooms with tables in groups so that children can work cooperatively. However, there are times when setting out tables in rows is benefical so that children can concentrate. In secondary schools rows of desks can still be found. The issue is, which is best?
Explain using: collaborative learning, Vygotsky, ZPD etc.
Just stating the facts is only AO1 points. For AO2 points you need to analyse and evaluate the methods.
